A Date With Wine: A Wine Stopper that Can Tell You When You Opened Your Bottle

New York based designer George Lee keeps coming up with interesting and useful designs. For all those wine drinkers out there, he has brought out a cool new product called A Date With Wine. It is basically a wine stopper that tells you when you had opened your wine. This way you can guess whether the wine is still worth drinking or has it been open for too long.
The look of this wine stopper is pretty industrial considering it has been made with a food-grade stainless steel and silicone. As you can see, the top of the cork comes with a twistable date ring that starts once you open the bottle the first time. It is not some rocket science, but I guess it still would be usefull to those forgetful people or those who don’t drink wine very frequently and also drink it at long intervals I guess. Well actually any wine drinker could buy this product.
These little inventions are the ones that come in handy in our day to day life. And I am sure it would cost a bomb. I have been impressed with George Lee, and will look forward to his other innovative designs in the future.

Playstation Controller Inspired Coffee Table
Gaming consoles and characters is a huge source of inspiration to the design world. Creative minds recreate their obsessions for virtual beings into something real and souvenir-like. Mark M created a coffee table held by a humongous White Playstation Controller as part of his masters work in Industrial Technology Project.
There is no machine work or rocket science technology but the way the idea is churned out into real stuff is awe-inspiring. Materials used here include Veneer, MDF, Plywood and polyurethane full gloss finish. The creator worked 20 weeks on and off during school time to make this masterpiece.
Well, it’s only a post graduate project but I wonder if this could inspire some home décor makers to create similar furniture accessories. I am already imagining a Super Mario dining table seated in my living room. In past, I have seen everything apparel, bobble heads, plush toys and even food taking the form of most celebrated gaming characters, but this one is an interesting ode to Playstation’s gamign user interface.

Wood Wires Desk Brillantly Hides Cords on One’s Desk
No matter how clean I keep my desk it always looks messed up and shabby. Even though we live in the age of wireless gadgets, it’s virtually impossible do away with wires completely. Not to mention a cluster of gadgets with clinging wires often leads to entanglement and then you go through a patience exercise after that. The Wood Wires Desk designed by Johnny Does is a grid of wooden planks with small wire-gutters in between. This recess between the planks is where the cords would be tucked and thenin turn lead towards the back of the desk where they’re plugged in.
Unlike most brilliant designer ideas, this isn’t conceptual. You can actually make your own Wood Wires Desk by grabbing a bunch of planks and working on a design that suits the length and breadth of your already existing. Depending on thickest cord that you have, space out the wooden planks. And there would be uber cool desk resembling a shipping crate.
The best part here is it’s completely doable and doesn’t call in for some expensive material or rocket science technology. So go ahead and celebrate the era of ‘no wire clutterred’ desks with this DIY.
