Intel Corporation Acquires Wireless Chip Division Of Infineon Technologies AG For $1.4 Billion

The smartphone and mobile device revolution is at its peak as more and more companies dive into the foray to get a piece of this highly lucrative vertical. Be the smartphones such as the Apple iPhone 4G or mobile devices such as the likes of Apple iPad, the technological revolution has changed the way we interacted at a phenomenal pace. Understanding the vast potential in this field and finding itself nearly non existent in the mobile realm, one of the biggest names in computer chip production, Intel Corporation, has now reportedly acquired the wireless chip division of Germany based Infineon Technologies AG for a whopping $1.4 billion.
The entire deal as per sources has been conducted on cash only basis and thus has given Intel complete control over the company that was known to manufacture chips used in the incredibly famous Apple iPhone. This isn’t the first of kind acquisition for Intel, as the company had also purchased mobile software maker Wind River Systems for $884 million in the year 2009. With that acquisition, Intel fast tracked the development of Moblin, an open source software designed to run on mobile devices powered by Intel processors. The Infineon acquisition has now provided Intel the platform through which the company can accelerate its plans to enter the mobile device business and with its experience in highly powerful yet energy efficient processors, Intel could in fact create a sizable competition for major mobile phone manufacturers.

Google Android Takes A Massive Leap In The Mobile OS War. Edges Out Apple iPhone

The world of mobile phones is now evolving at a phenomenal speed, so much so that, thee nifty devices have now become a vital tool for communication, entertainment and various other activities. One of the newest names in the field of smart phones, Google Android mobile operating system, it seems has now edged out some of the most prominent figures of the industry, such as the likes of Apple iPhone and Blackberry from Research in Motion (RIM). As per there recent analysis from Gartner, Android has claimed the top spot in the total smartphone sales in the U.S.
Even though the Android system is considered to be infant in this stream and the fact that, it would a consistent winning streak to be called the top OS, yet the current analysis does prove to be a significant achievement for the Android OS. For the second quarter of the year 2010, Google Android powered devices reached a total sales of 4.96 million devices, leaving behind Blackberry with 4.84 million and Apple ‘s iOS for the iPhone with just 3.22 million devices. Even with this ratio, the Symbian OS, which is associated with the Finnish smartphone giant, Nokia, claimed the 1st spot with Nokia claiming a total global smartphone sales of 25.3 million, followed by Blackberry with 11.2 million, Android powered handsets claimed 10.6 million global sales and Apple iOS came fourth with 8.7 million.

Apple Inc. To Launch Apple TV as iTV With Applications & Reduced Video Resolution

One of the biggest names in the world of technology, Apple Inc. has now reportedly given a new spin to its highly anticipated Apple TV program, as according to numerous reports, the company will be renaming the entire project to ‘iTV’ before the official launch of the product. Furthermore, the all new iTV will come with various downloadable applications and Apple has even reduced the resolution of the video from 1080p high-definition video to 720p HD video.
The iTV is said to be powered by an Apple A4 processors, the same one that is currently installed on the all new iPhone 4G and the device will be running the Apple iOS. iTV will come with an internal 16GB of flash memory and will introduce new iTunes streaming services. One of the primary reasons for this drastic change in iTV’s video output is being attributed to the restricted ability of the A4 processor, that apparently isn’t able to handle higher resolution content. The applications that will be available for the iTV are believed to be available on a separate Apple Apps Store and there is no indication as such whether the device will have access to apps designed and developed for the iPhone and iPad.

One of the biggest companies in the field of technology, Apple Inc. a name synonymous with the Apple iPhone series and the iPad tablet device has now acquired the patents of LiquidMetal, where in the former will now have complete and undisputed rights over any materials developed by LiquidMetal. LiquidMetal made headlines some time ago, when one of its videos went viral, where in the company showcased one of its newly created alloys that, had the properties of retaining kinetic energy for longer duration of time than the conventional metals.
With the acquisition of all patents of LiquidMetal by Apple Inc,. the former will now have the freedom of using the research of Liquidmetal into creating more advanced computer and electronic products. One of the primary speculations that come to mind, in regards to this latest acquisition is that, LiquidMetal, a company that relies heavily on research and development might have created something that, would have been of immense interest to Apple. However, one thing is for sure that, Apple hasn’t invested so much money in acquiring these patents for no reason. Because of lack of details, it would be very hard to speculate, but whatever Apple Inc. saw, liked and bought, could surface than you would think.

Apple Inc. Planning To Introduce An All New 7-Inch Display Apple iPad In 2011

There is no stopping of the flood of news reports, when it comes to one of the most cherished gadgets in the world, the Apple iPad. Since its launch in the month of June this year, the device gained incredible levels of popularity, so much so that, Apple Inc, sold one million iPad units in just one month. Now, there are reports coming in that, Apple could very well be working on the final touches for an new iPad, that will sport a considerable smaller screen of 7 inches and will be powered by Cortex-A9 processor.
The all new smaller iPad is believed to have 512 MB of RAM, which is quite similar to the Apple iPhone 4G. This new device will have a smaller screen size, where in the original 9.7 inch touch screen will be replaced with a 7 inch touch screen, that would provide a resolution of 1,024×768, which is the same as that of the current generation iPad. As per the reports, the all new Apple iPad could hit the markets as soon as the first quarter of 2011.
In other related Apple news, the company has now accelerated the CDMA iPhone project, as Pegatron Technology is believed to begin mass production of the CDMA iPhone devices in the month of December this year and the Verizon Wireless is said to be planning to launch the device at the CES 2011.

In recent time, the world of personal navigation systems have witnessed a colossal jump in terms of technological advancements and availability. With the increased number of smart phones being introduced in the markets, these navigation systems are no longer confined to cars and have made their way to mobile devices such as the Apple iPhone among others. However, a team of Japanese engineers has now come up with a futuristic state of the art Personal Navigation System (PNS), that is embedded into a user’s glasses.
This all new navigation system consists is a pair of conventional glasses and comprises of a battery, LEDs, magnetic directional sensor, and a microcomputer. This all new prototype system works by the user putting in the desired destination and the system via the LEDs, provide accurate routes and directions for the location right in the glasses. After receiving user input, the GPS in the glasses keeps the destination location up to date and with the help of the embedded LEDs, the system is able to give visual signals to the user in the form of green and red lights, marking whether the person is going the right way or the wrong way. The entire project is the brainchild of a team of engineers working at the Nakajima Lab at the University of Electro-Communication in Tokyo.
Google Android Outsells Apple iPhone Sales In The U.S.

Since the onset of the Google Android operating system platform for mobile devices, many had speculated the rise of this new OS, so much so that, it was predicted to outgun nearly all existing mobile operating systems. And that’s exactly what has happened, as Android powered devices have taken a lead ahead of the highly prestigious Apple iPhone.
For the first time in recent history the sales of the Google Nexus One soared, amounting to 27% of total handset sales in the U.S as per the Nielsen Company and this surge in the handset sales broke past the Apple monopoly of 23% market share. The success of Android powered handsets isn’t only confined to the United States alone, as according to the technology analysis firm, Canalys, the Android phenomenon took the world by storm with an astounding 886% increase in handsets sales against the quarter from last year.
Even though Google Android surfaced in the market about two years ago, yet it is still relatively new when it comes to various established and long serving mobile operating systems, such as iOS 4, Blackberry, Symbian etc. and the popularity of Android has brought several handset manufacturers back into the game. Motorola for one is a perfect example of how Android turned the fortunes of these companies overnight, including HTC, a company that was known for the use of Microsoft Windows Mobile as the sole operating system for its handsets has also quickened its pace to adopt Google Android as the primary operating system for its handsets.
